Jack Doherty was born in Northern Ireland, and currently works from his studio in Cornwall.
While working as an independent artist, he has been involved with contemporary ceramics on many levels. He was Chair of the Craft Potters Association, founder and chair of Ceramic Art London, guest editor of Ceramic Review magazine and a visiting lecturer and demonstrator at many colleges and ceramics institutions around the world.
His work is represented in many public and private collections. In 2016 he received the Janet Mansfield Memorial Award for his work with soda glaze.
In 2020 he was selected as a finalist for the Loewe Craft Prize.
