Simone Fraser has always worked with the vessel. The ubiquitous nature of the vessel and its humanness with its neck, body and foot, means it opens up an immediate dialogue with the viewer who can then focus on the contemporary content or story within. Her search is for new rhythms in ancient forms via disordered patterning and pierced surfaces, permitting texture to instruct and partly define the form, while at the same time deconstructing the “container”.
