Protoclay: A Potter’s Inquiry into Fired Granite

This article’s theme outlines two aspects of my adventure of firing granite rocks as if they were very thick stoneware: one aspect covers some techniques/procedures I came upon as I fired the rocks, the other touches on the use of the ‘finished product’ of these firings. All of the pieces presented, were developed between the years 2000 and 2010. This has not been a straight path.1
