Q&A: Dull Glaze Colors
Q: I did not have enough pots to fill the glaze kiln. Why are my glaze colors muted and with rough surface textures?
A: There happens to be more than one answer to this question. Multiple causes for ceramics defects are not unusual. In this instance the defects could originate from a number of kiln related issues. The potter is left to determine which factors produced the defects. In many instances a process of elimination will yield an explanation which can lead to a correction.
