Ruth Ju-shih Li: Ephemera and Permanence: Dichotomies of Process and Product in Contemporary Ceramic Art Practice

Ruth Li uses the universal symbolism of flowers to create chimerical microcosms that appear deeply autobiographical. Her organic forms not only reflect a narrative, but also explore the transient and ephemeral aspect of the human condition, whilst also drawing inspiration from the realms of dreams, myths and utopian visions. This exploration is further enriched by her fascination with the inticacies of her cultural identity.
