The 2024 Portage Ceramic Awards
‘The Portage’ is a touchstone of the Kiwi summer for me. Every time I can return home for Christmas, I’ll head out west and see it. I’ll never love everything, but I can count on coming away inspired and reinvigorated. This time, the exhibition got me thinking about the point of interpretive text in galleries; how to judge art, and even what ‘ceramics’ is these days.
