The Light Still Shines Bright

Linglong porcelain is widely reputed to have been borne out of a mistake. During the production process of making an incense burner, the firing temperature was too high. This caused the glaze to run into the holes of the incense burner which, when the kiln was opened, everyone first viewed as a mistake. However, then holding the burner under light they could see the potential for the stunning effect this run-off glaze had caused and it inspired them to include this ‘mistake’ in further works.1
