Volunteers

We are looking for 20 festival assistants (ceramic or sculpture students) who are interested in donating their valuable time to attend Glay Gulgong 2018 and become part of Team Gulgong.  Being a festival assistant is a great opportunity to take part in this event and see, meet and work with leading national and international ceramicists and potters. Tasks required vary widely from physical work to dealing with public enquiries.

Free registration

All festival assistants will attend Clay Gulgong 2018 without having to pay the registration fee ($560 delegate fee/$380 student fee).

Duties

Set-up: Help erect marquees and assist exhibitors. This will involve physical and outdoor work; Assist Trade stands unload and set up; Assist set up the exhibition spaces.

Assisting masters: Preparing clay.

Pack-up: All assistants are required to help clear the site after the event. This will include physical and outdoor work. This is one of the busiest times and everyone will be needed to assist with this.

Availability: Assistants are required on site from Monday 16 April 2018 at 10.00am to approximately 7.00pm on Friday 20 April 2018. Assistants are expected to work for approximately 6 hours per day. Some days may involve working for longer hours. Demonstration hours are from 9.00am until 11.00am and 2.00pm until 4.00pm.

Manual lifting: There will be some manual lifting involved. Could you please indicate on the application form whether you are unable or have limited capacity to undertake this type of physical work. Some of the work may be outside and the weather is not guaranteed.

Transport and accommodation

All festival assistants will need to arrange their own transport and accommodation whilst in Gulgong.

30 September 2017: Applications for assistants open. 30 November 2015: Deadline for applications. 11 January 2018: Confirmation letters sent to successful application. If you have not heard from us by the 1 Feb 2018 you can assume that your application has been unsuccessful.
