A Two-Day Teachers Workshop presented by national and international artists in the fields of ceramics and education
Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th April 2026
Since 2016, Clay Gulgong has provided opportunities for educators to share approaches to teaching ceramics in Australian schools. At Clay Gulgong 2026, this focus will be expanded through a two-day professional learning program featuring workshops and presentations by leading Australian and international ceramic artists and art teachers.
For 2026, workshops have been extended to two hours and will take place in dedicated learning spaces, and sessions will explore a range of construction methods and surface treatments. Artists including Marina Pribaz (AUS), Chanakarn “Punch” Semachai (Thailand), Andile Dyalvane (South Africa), and Keith Brymer Jones (UK) will present their work and offer hands-on learning in smaller groups, giving you the opportunity to develop techniques directly informed by each artist’s practice.
Workshop options and selection processes will be announced closer to the event.
You will also have the chance to join other Clay Gulgong delegates at key festival activities, including the Masters’ Presentations, Readers & Writers events, and the Master demonstrations at Red Hill.
Keith Brymer Jones—well known from the internationally renowned British television program The Great Pottery Throwdown, and the new smash hit television show, Our Welsh Chapel Dream – as well as serving in the important role of patron of the UK National Society for Education in Art and Design, will be our first guest speaker, and later officially open the K–12 National Ceramics Exhibition at the Holtermann Museum.
Early entry to Clay Gulgong will be available on Monday afternoon (13th Apr) before Day 1 of the Teachers’ Program, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Registered teachers are welcome to spend the afternoon at Red Hill observing the masters at work, visiting product displays, and attending evening talks and events.
Teachers Workshop participants are warmly invited to join CG delegates for the opening of the Masters Exhibition at the Holtermann Museum on Monday 13th April at 6:00pm. Take this opportunity to explore the beautiful works the masters have brought to Clay Gulgong—and if you’re lucky, you might even find the perfect piece to take home!
Registration will also be available on the morning of Day 1 prior to the program’s commencement.
As part of the Teachers’ Professional Learning Program, supporting resources will be developed and emailed to all delegates.
Tickets for the 2 days are $550.00 inc. gst or if you prefer to immerse yourself for the full week, passes are $770 inc gst.
