This autumn, Watts Contemporary Gallery
presents its first group ceramics show.
Bringing together work by 10 leading
contemporary artists, Watts Ceramics 2019
demonstrates the diversity of the discipline’s
contemporary practice in a celebration of pottery’s
long tradition at Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village.
Inspired by the legacy of our co-founder, the
ceramic artist, Mary Watts (1849 – 1938), the
artists in this exhibition are all women. Work
selected for the show – including terracotta,
stoneware, earthenware and porcelain –
demonstrates how leading contemporary
makers are pushing artistic boundaries with new
techniques, all the while acknowledging the
influences of their discipline’s rich history.
